Eyemaxx rents half of mall in Targu Jiu, looks at more retail

Austrian developer Eyemaxx has leased and agreed to lease almost half of its future shopping center in Targu Jiu, Iulia Enescu, head of marketing retail with the company, told Business Review. The developer is close to finalizing layouts and receiving building permits for the 22,000-sqm mall which will feature three floors and an underground car park in downtown Targu Jiu.
"The building will be finished in the first part of 2010," says Enescu. So far, the Targu Jiu project is the only retail project announced by Eyemaxx in Romania, where it also plans to build logistics centers under the Log Center brand.
The mall in Targu Jiu, which will require a EUR 50 million investment, will be built on a 1.7-hectare plot in the city, near Interex and Kaufland. It will host tenants such as Domo, Leonardo, Centrofarm, B&B Collection, Optiplaza, Jolidon, Caffe Mozart, Darcom, Bowling & Billiard, Simulators, and Casino.
The developer has searched for plots for many retail centers and some of the plots were even reserved.
"We are waiting for the right moment to start construction works," says Enescu. The company is not ruling out the possibility of building residential or office buildings in Romania, according to Enescu.
